Isaak Altinyay
Isaak Altinyay (b. 2003) is a visual artist and sound designer.His work is situated at the immediate intersection of Concrete Art and sound design. Through the exploration of sonic patterns and mathematical sequences, he develops an interdisciplinary practice crossing material, sound, and image. Each project is guided by a strict structural logic and systems of controlled recurrence, rejecting narrative linearity in favor of the pure presence of sound and form within space.Consequently, the resulting aesthetic aligns with the precision of geometric art and the rationality of design. His research into sonic didactics — exemplified by his study on the functional role of ambient music productions — envisions compositions not as objects of emotional contemplation, but as autonomous and objective structures founded on rigorous laws.Isaak Altinyay laid the foundations of his practice during his studies at the Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR) in Mulhouse. It was during this curriculum and through several notable group exhibitions that he began to bridge frequency and plastic architectures. Particularly influenced by the logic of non-synchronized loops and time-based systems derived from the legacy of Brian Eno, he deploys a compositional method that is both theoretical and technical.This demanding path has been enriched by a conceptual rigor reinforced by a close collaboration within SYMETRIA Editions. Recently appointed as art director of the publishing house alongside Jean-Charles Kien and Christian Savioz, he infuses the structure with his transversal vision of contemporary geometric abstraction. Alongside his personal research conducted in the studio, he actively participates today in the editorial evolution of the house.

Lightning for the Specific Direction of the Mind is a limited edition of 50 numbered copies. It results from an exploration of systemic and mathematical composition, structured around precisely desynchronized loops (an accurate desynchronization).This project was produced using synthesizers such as Arturia Matrix 12, Solina, Prophet V, and Yamaha DX7 with Ableton Live and WaveLab. It offers a functional form of music, designed to automate the listener’s perception, eliminating the need for contemplation.Each piece is screen-printed, individually numbered, and signed. This edition includes four screen-printed postcards, each representing a track from the album, along with a booklet providing an intimate look into its production process.

On the occasion of Kunsttage Basel (Switzerland), the art space Hebel_121 presents an exhibition and sound performance by the artist Isaak Altinyay.Isaak Altinyay (born 2003) works as a visual artist and sound designer. His practice occupies the direct meeting point of Concrete Art and sound design. By investigating sonic patterns and mathematical sequences, he builds an interdisciplinary approach that moves between material, sound, and image. Every project follows a tightly defined structural logic and systems of measured repetition, setting aside narrative progression in order to emphasize the unmediated presence of sound and form in space.The resulting work therefore shares the exactitude of geometric art and the reasoned clarity of design. His inquiry into sonic didactics — illustrated by his research on the functional purpose of ambient music — treats compositions not as vehicles for emotional reflection, but as independent, objective constructions governed by precise principles.Altinyay established the basis of this practice while studying at the Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR) in Mulhouse. During that period, and through several significant group exhibitions, he began connecting frequency with spatial and sculptural architectures. Strongly shaped by unsynchronized loops and time-based systems in the lineage of Brian Eno, he employs a compositional method that is at once theoretical and technical.This exacting trajectory has been further strengthened by conceptual discipline developed through close work with SYMETRIA Editions. Recently named art director of the publishing house together with Jean-Charles Kien and Christian Savioz, he brings to the organization his cross-disciplinary understanding of contemporary geometric abstraction.
